My Sweetness | Skagit County Photographer
January 28, 2010

Know you what it is to be a child?…
It is to believe in love, to believe in loveliness, to believe in belief;
it is to be so little that the elves can reach to whisper in your ear,
it is to turn pumpkins into coaches,
and mice into horses,
lowness into loftiness,
and nothing into everything,
for each child has its fairy godmother in its soul.

Spring Schedule Now Open
January 4, 2010It’s time to begin booking sessions for March-May. My January and February dates are reserved for newborns and maternity sessions. If you are an expectant mommy with a summer due date and would like to book a session, please contact me anytime. I schedule newborns at anytime throughout the year. Please email me at melissa@melissacorcoranphoto.com or use the contact form on my main website if you are interested in booking a session.
Please remember that I only take a limited number of sessions each month so I tend to book 2-3 months in advance. I will book on a first come, first serve basis. My summer sessions will begin booking in May. Oh summer…. I can hardly wait. It truly is my favorite time for photography sessions. That warm evening light is magical!
And if you haven’t visited the main website lately, you will notice a different look and updated photos! I am still trying to update it completely from last year’s sessions. I’m getting there… slowly but surely. All the big plans I had for the holiday “break” got a bit sidelined with other fun, family stuff. But I’m getting back to it now. So, go check it out if you have a free moment. And feel free to comment here to tell me what you think. I ♥ me some comments!
Looking back on 2009
December 31, 2009I am not a big fan of New Year’s Eve. I never really have been. Not being much of a party girl, I usually spend a quiet evening at home (much more my style). But the part that always gets me is the looking back on the year. I am such a sentimental soul and now that I have children, I realize how quickly the time goes. From one year to the next, they grow and change so much. And while I am grateful for the blessings in our life and the joy we shared in 2009, I always get anxious about the future. That’s just me – I always think, can it get any better than this?
As you move into 2010, remember to pick up your camera and snap everyday moments of your kids while they are young. Nothing moves me more than sitting and looking through old photographs and albums from when I was growing up. I love the silly things like hairstyles, clothing, the cars my parents drove. But mostly, I love seeing who we were – who our family was and the moments we spent together. Many things have changed as the years have come and gone, but the love of family has always been there.
Just looking at the pictures of my babies from the past 12 months makes me all too weepy. I wanted to share a few (ok…a lot) with you here tonight. Some of these are ones you may have seen before but they are some of my favorites.

What a wonderful year! Thank you to all of my wonderful clients and blog followers. 2009 has been an incredible year and here’s to an even more beautiful 2010.
Love,

A Baby of Their Own
December 2, 2009This is a special post about a very special couple. Curtis and Mary Ann are friends of mine and two of the greatest people I know. Kind, generous, always there with a smile or to make you laugh and so happily married. The kind of people you just know will be amazing parents. But their little miracle hasn’t come yet. After many years, my sweet friends are now hoping to adopt.
I asked them if I could post their parent profile on my blog. You just never know who might be reading this or who may know someone. If you have a chance, I would love for you to read about my sweet friends and their hope for a baby here.
I sat down last night and read their words. I have so much hope, knowing that somewhere there is a baby for them… a little miracle who is going to be so lucky to have such amazing parents. Curtis and Mary, I can’t wait for you both to hear that pitter-patter.
xoxo

Caroline & Olivia | Snohomish County Newborn Photographer
December 1, 2009Beautiful twin girls – twice the blessing. I was so excited when Mom contacted me about a newborn session for her twin baby girls on the way. This was my first set of twins and they were so perfect in every way. I loved seeing how different their little personalities are even at this very young age. It was more than a pleasure – it was a complete joy to get to be the one to document them at their tiniest.
Best friends for life…

Sweet Olivia.

Beautiful Caroline.

Thank you so much Jessica and Chris for having me out to photograph your sweet baby girls. It was such a wonderful experience – they are just simply gorgeous.
Happy Thanksgiving
November 25, 2009It is hard to believe that it is actually Thankgiving tomorrow. I feel this way every year – somehow, it sneaks up on me. I have so many memories of Thankgiving at my Granny’s tiny little house - all of the women in the family gathered around a table meant for 4 and the men in the living room with TV trays and football games with the TV blaring much too loudly. And when Grandpa was still alive, he was sleeping soundly in the chair soon after dinner with his mouth open. I could go on and on about the little details. I’m sure that many of you have memories like this. And even though Granny complained some, the house was always much too hot, and over the years it was extremely crowded as our families grew – these are memories I will carry with me forever. The moments I will never forget. They are the fabric that make up my childhood.
I hope that as my children grow up, they will be surrounded by the love of family. We are so lucky to be together, to be loved by each other – every minute a blessing.
And through the chaos and the noise of life, I actually was lucky to catch them together with my camera the other day. My sweet babies – healthy and happy, loving on each other. Does it get any better than that?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Pretty New Products | Custom Image Box
November 24, 2009Oh how I love pretty new products. I absolutely love the new custom image box that is now available. Designed with a beautiful image from your session and name on the binding, this lined image box holds photos from your session and can be chosen in place of an album in the portrait collections. Such a lovely way to showcase your images from your portrait session.

Schedule Update
October 24, 2009Hi everyone! Fall is busy, busy, busy! I wanted to let you know that I am completely booked for the remainder of this year. Right now, I am only booking newborn sessions for 2010. I will open my winter-spring calendar in December. I’ve created an email list of interested clients. Please contact me if you would like to be added to the list. Due to our cold and wet winter weather, I will only be doing newborns, maternity and babies under 1 year (non walkers) for the winter sessions.
I am fortunate to have many newborns coming up in the next few months. So be prepared for an overload of newborn cuteness in my coming blog posts. And because no post is complete without a photo, here are a few of Miss Maddy from just last week.

Thanks everyone!
