Ending my year with this special boy could not have been more perfect.  He was so wanted, so loved, so prayed for before he was ever conceived.  His parents have been waiting for him for so long.  You may remember their story that I featured here on the blog last year. Their baby boy is finally here and he is beyond perfect.

Finally getting to see my sweet friend hold her child that she has wanted for so long, and being able to document those moments for her… that was so special. Thank you, Curtis and Mary Ann for letting me be the one to capture these early days for you. We are all so thrilled that your little miracle is finally here.

I was so thrilled when I heard the news that my childhood friend was expecting and even more excited when she contacted me for photos of her sweet baby.  And what an absolutely beautiful boy he is!  Arriving a bit behind schedule and well worth the wait, sweet Preston was almost 10 pounds.  There is something about big babies that melts me… maybe it’s because my own were big themselves.  Those chubby arms, the elbow dimples and those big, kissable cheeks.   I couldn’t help but admire his perfection as I waited for him to fall into a deep sleep… such a perfect little man…

Capturing simple images of parents and their newborns is a favorite of mine.   There is nothing like holding your baby close to you, feeling his warmth, his newness, that sweet baby smell.  I always hope my simple images can someday take parents back to those earliest of days when their baby fit into the palm of their hand…

Little Summit made the long drive up here to see me and I am so thankful he did.  I was able to capture his beautiful sleepy smiles.  Those fleeting little smiles that grace a sleeping baby’s face just melt me.

I am so lucky to be getting the chance to visit with 4 high school classmates this fall as they welcome new additions to their families.   Tawnya and I graduated together and our sons are only a few days apart.  And now, they have welcome beautiful little Tori to their family.  She was the first baby whose session I did here in my home and she was so peaceful the entire time. Such a beautiful little one…

The moment I met this little darling, she had my heart. What a beautiful princess who slept so peacefully throughout our entire session. Her name means “beautiful and lovely” and is so fitting for this little one.   From beginning to end, she was the picture of serenity and the room was filled with the love of new parents for their first born child…

On a studio note, as of September 1st all newborn sessions will be held in my home studio space here in Burlington.  After several years of on location work, I am so excited to be able to invite clients here to have their newborn sessions.  It will give me greater control of the light and allow me to have access to all of my wonderful blankets and accessories.  I’ll be posting photos soon of the finished space and can’t wait to welcome my first newborn here in the next few weeks!

This little man just couldn’t wait for his daddy to get home from his 8 month deployment.  He arrived just 8 hours before his dad made it back. Born at home, his daddy was able to be on the phone during the birth and hear his son’s first cries…

Such a sweet little one, he barely made a peep during our 3 hour session.
