So prayed for, so wanted, so loved.   Meet Liv.

Thank you Raye for welcoming my crazy bunch into your home and for being such a wonderful friend. Our visit was much too short!   I am so, so happy for you.  What a precious gift she is. xoxo

If you haven’t visited Raye’s website before, you must! Her talent is inspring. Such an artist.

Earlier this month, I had a chance to travel to Arkansas to visit my husband’s family. It just so happens that his niece is expecting their second son very soon.  I love that I got a chance to photograph her and the beautiful green landscape of Arkansas. I was so surprised at how gorgeous it was there! Having been deprived of sun and outdoor sessions for several long winter months, this was pure heaven for me – even with the fire ants and ticks around!  Their home is surrounded by forests and fields… the perfect backdrop for our session.

Looking forward to hearing the good news soon, Aubrey and Adam!  Much love, Melissa xo

I shared images from this session last summer, but decided to share the entire gallery as well.  It is one of my favorites from last year and when the skies are gray, it helps me to remember that the sun will come out again!  Oh, how I am longing for warm, sunlit skies and beautiful families to photograph.   Looking forward to many more beautiful sessions soon in this new year.

Please take a moment to view this gallery.  I know it will make you smile!  Also, if you are thinking of booking a session and need clothing ideas this family is a perfect example of “what to wear”.  They chose bright colors (even though I normally suggest neutrals).  However, the coordination and use of solids and a touch of simple pattern was perfection.  I love that Mom chose a dress too.  It’s just so feminine.   Mom actually sent me pictures of the outfits she had in mind so that I could help her decide.  Remember, I am always here to help!

I am currently booking outdoor family sessions for spring and beyond.  If you are interested in booking a session, contact me soon for more details.  Also, just a few mini sessions left for maternity and baby sessions in March!  See details below.

Thanks for stopping by.   Have a wonderful day!

Keeping things simple. That is my personal and professional goal for 2012.   Over the past few years, I have watched my photography style emerge and develop.  I believe that I tell a family’s story of simple, true love and emotion.  I don’t need fancy props or funky locations.  Give me a field, a blanket and a family and I will show you their spirit.

So, I believe it’s time my product offerings reflect my simple style. When I first opened my business 4 years ago, I did not offer my images on a CD.  I love the feeling of holding beautiful prints in my hands and knowing the work it took to create those images.  Handing over a CD just didn’t feel right.  I was afraid of having those images printed by cheap labs that make awful prints, destroying my hours of editing.  But over the years, I have found consumer labs that I trust and recommend to my clients. I have created detailed instructions on how to archive and prints photos from CD.  And I have developed trust in my clients, knowing they want their portraits to look as beautiful as I do.

So, I have decided to offer only Digital Collections.  These collections will offer clients the chance to have the printing rights to the photos they select for their CD.  There will be several simple collections from which to choose.  I also will offer prints, coffee table books, wall galleries and canvases a la carte that may be added onto the collections.   These simple offerings will hopefully make it easier for my clients to choose and for them to have all of the images they wish from their sessions to archive.

If you are interested in learning more about my Digital Collections, please email me at melissa@melissacorcoranphoto.com and I will send you more information.

January and February are booked.  I do have availability for my Winter Mini Sessions still in March, as well as a few newborn openings.  If you are interested in an outdoor family session, I am now booking spring and summer sessions.

And finally, here is a sweet mini session from last fall.  We shot this on a very blustery November afternoon!

Details on my Winter Mini Sessions are below. Please note that these sessions are for maternity and babies under 2 years.

I am very lucky to know these beautiful people and call them “family”.  Thank you for being such wonderful friends, Henken Family!

I really could have shared this whole session.  We shot this mini session in about 30 minutes one fall evening, just as the beautiful hazy light hit the horizon. I am glad I was able to capture these little people once again… before they start driving. :)   Time is going way too fast…

On a studio note, details for the Limited Winter Mini Sessions are below.  These will be 30 minute indoor sessions (outdoor if weather permits) for maternity, babies, and young toddlers (2 and under).  Please contact me if you’d like more information.  January is nearly full and February and March are getting more limited!

Thank you so much, Monira and Oscar for having me capture these moments for you.  I always enjoy seeing your beautiful little girl.

I really have nothing more to say than that.  Just soak in Baby Evan’s cuteness.  He is irresistible, don’t you think?

Thank you Stephanie for another fun session with Mr. E.  Can’t wait to see you all again soon!

A little girl…one of the most beautiful miracles in life, one of the greatest joys we can ever know, and one of the reasons why there is a little extra sunshine, laughter and happiness in your world today.

No doubt these little girls fill their home with a little extra sunshine…

Thank you  Jessica and Chris for sharing your beautiful girls with me again! I just love seeing how they’ve grown and changed from year to year!

It is truly an honor to be asked by another photographer to photograph their family.  I have been a fan of Mimi Inglin’s work for several years. I’ve watched her girls grow through images on her blog and through facebook. I was just so pleased when she contacted me.  The evening was perfect, the light divine and their family was as beautiful as can be…

What a pleasure it was to meet you, Mimi and Greg!  Your girls are just adorable and you were so easy to work with.  I hope these images make you smile!

A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost.  ~Marion C. Garretty

I am often a bit envious of the relationships between sisters.  It would be so wonderful to have someone who has known you from the start, who will always be there for you, and who is your very best friend…

It was so great to meet you, Amber!  I am so glad we could fit in a session before you made the trek back to Washington D.C.  Your girls are so beautiful and were such a joy to photograph!
