Happy Thanksgiving

November 25, 2009

It is hard to believe that it is actually Thankgiving tomorrow. I feel this way every year – somehow, it sneaks up on me. I have so many memories of Thankgiving at my Granny’s tiny little house -  all of the women in the family gathered around a table meant for 4 and the men in the living room with TV trays and football games with the TV blaring much too loudly. And when Grandpa was still alive,  he was sleeping soundly in the chair soon after dinner with his mouth open.  I could go on and on about the little details.  I’m sure that many of you have memories like this.  And even though Granny complained some,  the house was always much too hot, and over the years it was extremely crowded as our families grew – these are memories I will carry with me forever. The moments I will never forget. They are the fabric that make up my childhood.

I hope that as my children grow up, they will be surrounded by the love of family.    We are so lucky to be together, to be loved by each other  – every minute a blessing.

And through the chaos and the noise of life, I actually was lucky to catch them together with my camera the other day. My sweet babies – healthy and happy, loving on each other.  Does it get any better than that?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Oh how I love pretty new products. I absolutely love the new custom image box that is now available.  Designed with a beautiful image from your session and name on the binding, this lined image box holds photos from your session and can be chosen in place of an album in the portrait collections.  Such a lovely way to showcase your images from your portrait session.

Just a reminder that I am completely booked for the remainder of 2009.  I am already looking to 2010 and have so many beautiful new products to offer.    I am working really  hard to find just the perfect pieces to showcase your images and I am so excited to be sharing some of  them here in the next few months.  So do check back often to get a taste of some true product yumminess!

If you would like to be put on the email list for when my calendar opens and I begin booking winter and spring 2010, please email me at melissa@melissacorcoranphoto.com    That is often the best way to get the session date you desire since I do tend to book out several months in advance.  Expectant mommies, please do contact me now if you are wanting a newborn session.  I am reserving newborn sessions for 2010 and this time.

I have a few more lovely clients to meet in the next few weeks before we close here for the holidays.  And for now,  I leave you with 2 images of my own little critters from a camping trip this summer.  I don’t share my own enough here anymore and I am feeling a little guilty about that.

Bunny had to tag along on every hike, of course!

Such a perfect name for this perfect gentleman.    Little Jake is the sweet baby boy of this gorgeous mama. I love being able to go back and photograph the darling newborns of my maternity clients. And little Jake did not disappoint – he was simply perfect.  7 pounds of pure newborn gorgeousness.

Candice and David, you have such a beautiful little man. It was so great getting to visit with you again. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our session. Thank you so much for having me into your home.

Before each newborn session, I take time to plan which blankets to lay the baby on, which hats to take along and what new baskets, bowls or furs I hope to use.  I’m always thinking about poses and positions for the sweet little babe that I’m about to meet.  But you never can really plan a session from beginning to end…so much of what happens  depends upon the sweet little newborn.  Does she like her tummy or back best?  Will she sleep well?    You just never really know until you meet her…

And how lucky was I to get to meet sweet Emmalin this morning?  Such a gorgeous little model and she seemed to know just what she was supposed to do… sleep, sleep, sleep.   And even when she woke up for a snack a time or two,  she blessed the camera with her big beautiful eyes – oh so sweet.

Such a beautiful little blessing, Tim and Kim.  Thank you so much for having me out today!

I had the great pleasure of photographing some cutie patooties for a display at Childhood Bliss in La Conner this past weekend.   All of the A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E clothes and accessories you see here can be  purchased at the La Conner store. They also have a fabulous website so you can shop from home in your jammies if you wish.  If you haven’t been to the store or website, you must visit.   Go check them out online at Childhood Bliss.

Thank you so much, Julie and Carol for the opportunity to work with you! I can’t wait to see the photos on display in the store very soon. And to my beautiful models, a big thank you!!!! You did an awesome job! Look how cute they are!

Just a few of my favorites so far….
